Goodbye, 2012! Hello, 2013!
By Cindy Agoncillo
In ancient Roman mythology, Janus was the two-faced god of beginnings and transitions. With one face, he looked into the past. With the other, he looked into the future. He symbolized change and guarded gates and doorways.
Appropriately, the month of January gets its name from this ancient Roman god. January marks the beginning of a new calendar year. It is a doorway – a time of transition when we look back at the previous year and look ahead at the year to come. As we reminisce about all that 2012 brought to us, we make resolutions for 2013.
2012 was an exciting year for all of us at Barkleigh Productions. It was Pet Boarding & Daycare’s first full year in publication, and we are so pleased by the response we received from you – our readers. We planned and hosted our first-ever Pet Boarding & Daycare Expo, a sold-out event that was both a huge success and a great learning experience.
Every January, many of us make (and usually break) New Year’s resolutions. We pledge to eat healthy, exercise, and get fit. We promise to save more and spend less. We resolve to become better people than we were the year before.
But do you make New Year’s resolutions for your business? Perhaps 2013 is the perfect time to start. Resolve to make your boarding or daycare facility better than it was in 2012. In this issue, Veronica Boutelle has a lot of great ideas and advice to help you get started.
For 2013, Pet Boarding & Daycare resolves to be bigger and better than in 2012 – literally. Starting with this January/February issue, you’ll find more pages of the same great content as well as some new features. For example, “Tails & Tales” is a new section that features unbelievable but true stories from pet professionals just like you. (Look on page 8 for details on how to submit your tales!) We’re also starting to plan for the next Pet Boarding & Daycare Expo, so mark your calendars for November 2013!
Happy New Year from Pet Boarding & Daycare! We resolve to help you make 2013 the best year yet!
